20 Years against Human Trafficking and in Favour of Human Rights.

‘Stella Polare’ Project Book Launch

In 2000, Carla Corso and Maria Pia Covre – the founders of Comitato per i Diritti Civili delle Prostitute (Committee for Prostitutes’ Civil Rights) – had the forward-looking idea of realizing a project to offer a concrete tool in the fight against human trafficking, specifically against the sexual and labour exploitation in Trieste.

Stella Polare 20 anni di rotta e di rete anti tratta

In the collective volume Stella Polare. 20 anni di rotta e di rete anti-tratta Roberta Altin e Veronica Saba collected the stories of judges, police officers, social and legal workers, mediators, anthropologists, activists and volunteers who have been protagonists and active collaborators in creating ‘Stella Polare’ anti-trafficking network. Through those testimonies, we can find the critical moments that have changed the sex-work market and the migratory processes within the European area over the last 20 years. During those years – and still now – ‘Stella Polare’ (trans: Northern Star) has continued to indicate the direction in the fight against human trafficking and the route towards emancipation from exploitation and human rights violation.

The book launch will be held on 9 March 2023 at 5.30 pm in the lecture hall at Via Monfort 3 (Trieste).
